Intro to Consumer Technology Association
The Consumer Technology Association is an organization or business association that participates in holding events so that well-known brands like Amazon, Twitter, Samsung, Meta, LG, and many other tech businesses and startups may showcase their newest and most innovative consumer products. In order for those products to become more well-known and possibly lead to more consumer consumption. CTA’s headquarter is at 1919 S. Eads St., Arlington, Virginia, U.S. 22202, and it was formerly known as Consumer Electronics Association from 1999 to 2015. The CEO of CTS is Gary Shapiro.
Shows it Conducts
The Consumer Technology Association organizes events like the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and CES Asia, where numerous firms from the consumer technology industry participate in an effort to announce their latest product launches and a preview of products. And it is held every January in Las Vegas. Additionally, this show attracts a growing number of attendees each year.
Brief History of CES
CES was first held in 1967 in New York City with 250 exhibitors and 17,500 attendees in New York City. Back then it was a spinoff of the Chicago Music Show and that was the time when the Music show served as a main event for showcasing consumer electronics and technologies. And the show was a huge success and year by year the number of tech companies exhibiting their products increased. Due to its popularity, the event was conducted twice a year from 1978 to 1994. Once in January in Las Vegas called Winter Consumer Electronics Show (WCES) and the second time it was held in June in Chicago called Summer Consumer Electronics Show. The Summer Consumer Electronics Show popularity was decreasing so the organizers changed it back to the annual format at the Las Vegas location. So, CES had been out there conducting events annually for the past 56 years, it is a record-breaking number to see a show running for such a long term.
Products Showcased at CES
A variety of products are showcased at CES, and those can be OLED, 4K, 8K, QLED, and flexible TVs from Samsung and LG and there are other products like drones, robots, the latest mobile GPUs, and laptops from Asus, Dell, Lenovo that use these GPUs. CES also showcases a variety of automobile concepts like cars running on hydrogen and the latest Electric vehicles that can change color from big brands like Audi, BMW, and polestar. CES event is also home for smart home devices and wearables. Click here to see the list of product categories presented at the CES event.
Mostly all these latest tech products may not come into the consumer market and get sold but we can briefly understand how this latest tech is going to change the future.
